I agree whole heartedly that things like masochism, sadism, and preferred sex are not good feat material, and was one of the reason why Jashin and I were working on a traits and hinderances system (as hinted by the creators of the Netbook of Feats) that is similar to the Advantages and Disadvantages from GURPS and other systems.
Traits are like mini-feats that have a limited effect in normal game effects, while the hinderances have negative effects on the game. A hinderance is worth between 2 and 10 points (the bigger the impact in a game, the bigger the value) and are eaqual to skill points. 10 skill points equals a feat. So a 10 point hinderance would give a player enough points to buy a feat. The sadism feat is worth 2 or 5 points. the Two point version means that the pc is instantly aroused whenever they are inflicting pain in sex (no need to roll for it). The 5 point version indicates that the PC CANNOT get aroused without inflicting pain in sex. the same works for any fetish one chooses to embue thier character with. mhmm, actually I do something like this in my campaign (and do have sadism as a disadvantage, although more as a psychological defect than as a mechanic for sexual encounters).
But I somehow feel not realy good about including such a mechanism in a our book, the reason being, that our focus is on the rules for sex and not on other rules. As a seperate book, no problem. But if we do something like that, we will have to do it right. This would mean, we would have to include a big list of disadvantages. But on the other side, if we do include some benefit with these mentalities (masochism would offer some kind of resistance to pain, sadism some resistance to compulsions for example) we could do them as feats (along the line of regional feats --> mental feats).

Just an update to let everyone know I'm not dead! Work's slowing down again, so sometime next week I may have a revision to the Sex Tricks list -- I'm playing with the prereqs on all the tricks, since I discovered that there were no Rank 1 tricks besides the "alterbate ability" tricks... and that most other tricks had Dexterous Lover as a pre-req, barring almost all sex tricks from someone without a 12 Dex. Expect a reworked list of prereqs soon. Any input on appropriate prereqs is appreciated. As a note, I've moved most of the [Sex Act] Focus tricks to 1 Rank, no other reqs. Bondage and Anal Sex, however, are 3 rank tricks. Anyway, I'll have something along. Can anyone think of a good progression we might use?

I think, we need something about new uses for old skills. Bluff, Inuendo, Sense Motive and Diplomacy are more or less clear, but what about tumble, ride, handle animal(?), Climb (g), Concentration, Pick Pocket (maybe a syn-bonus on masturbation and similar tricks) and Use Rope
In addition some new Crafts, Profession (Prostitute was mentioned already), and alchemical stuff.

I'd be willing to take that on. Also, I'll see if my wife can't put together some new art next week.

Actually, I was checking the board to see how you were doing with your recondite makeover; I was thinking of using one in my next scenario/example, and I wanted to make sure I used the most correct version thereof. For instance, in the current version, you have put down that a recondite has a +30 for sexual prowess--how many tricks does he have, and which ones?
